Greg Chen Spotlights Human Costs of Politicizing the Border Crisis

Greg Chen (’98), Senior Director of Government Relations at American Immigration Lawyers Association, was quoted by VOA (Voice of America) News pointing to the impact of historically unprecedented migration across the Western Hemisphere and the danger of treating the border crisis as a political football (“In Border Visits, Biden and Trump Will Focus On Different Priorities,” Feb. 27). “[W]e see major backlogs across the board. Asylum-seekers and other migrants who are hoping to get legal relief and the opportunity to demonstrate that they should be able to stay in the United States are waiting much longer periods of time. . . . The border now needs urgent attention to ensure more efficient and orderly processing of people coming to the U.S., and so that it can be done in a fair and humane way.”
