Alexander Boni-Saenz (’09), Associate Dean for Scholarship and Faculty Development and Professor of Law at Chicago-Kent College of Law and incoming Professor of Law with the University of Minnesota Law School, was quoted by AP News discussing a report by the International Commission of Jurists in collaboration with UNAIDS and the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights outlining a human rights-based approach to criminal law proscribing conduct associated with sex, reproduction, drug use, HIV, homelessness and poverty (“UN Report Did Not Call For Decriminalizing Sex between Adults and Minors,” Apr. 21). Alexander explained that the report “does not advocate for the decriminalization of sex between adults and children. What it does do is suggest that the law should not be enforced in discriminatory way, for instance, by setting different age of consent based on sex of the participants in the sexual activity or the marital status of those involved.”
