Tarra Simmons Celebrates Vacated Conviction

Tarra Simmons (’17), Washington State Representative for the 23rd District, was featured by the Northwest News Network celebrating the expungement of her criminal record and moving past what she calls an “invisible prison” (“Formerly Incarcerated WA Lawmaker Has Record Cleared, Celebrates Freedom from ‘Invisible Prison,’” Sep. 12). As a state lawmaker, Tarra continues to pursue policies focused on legal justice, sharing, “I’ve been denied TSA pre-check, I’ve been turned away at the Canadian border, I can’t go to Australia – I mean the list goes on, but the most important thing really has to do with housing and employment.”
