Maren Hulden (’14), Supervising Attorney at Minnesota Disability Law Center, Mid-Minnesota Legal Aid, authored an opinion for the Star Tribune discussing Minnesota’s updated law prohibiting the use of certain restraints on children in schools (“Counterpoint: Police Presence in Schools Needs the New Limits,” Sep. 5). “We are grateful for the Minnesota Legislature’s attention to reducing the use of restraints in schools. . . . Schools should be safe and supportive learning environments for children, and baseline limits on the uses of dangerous restraints and unnecessary use of force will help keep all students safe.”
