Naomi Shatz Weighs In on Title IX Ruling against Boston Public Schools

Naomi Shatz (’08), Partner at Zalkind, Duncan & Bernstein LLP, was consulted for a Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly article presenting legal perspectives on a recent Massachusetts ruling allowing a Title IX case to proceed against Boston schools (“Title IX Complaint to Proceed against Boston Schools,” May 10). Naomi pointed to the ruling as “a good reminder that the purpose of Title IX is to ensure nobody is deprived of their education based on their sex, including based on sexual harassment.” She stated, “But even in a case where there is no in-school harassment, this decision indicates that a school could be violating Title IX where they don’t address off-campus sexual assaults between two students.”
