Dãnia Davy Calls Out Replacement Plan in Debt Relief Effort for Black Farmers

Dãnia Davy (’08), Director of Land Retention and Advocacy for the Federation of Southern Cooperatives/Land Assistance Fund, was quoted in The New York Times denouncing changes to legislation promising debt relief for Black farmers, with the newly-signed Inflation Reduction Act providing assistance to farmers who have faced discrimination without regard to race (“Climate and Tax Bill Rewrites Embattled Black Farmer Relief Program,” Aug. 12). “It’s unfortunate that the administration kind of led with racial equity being a huge focus and, at the first sign of litigation trouble, they kind of turned their backs on how difficult achieving the work of racial equity actually is.”
