Cassie Chambers Armstrong Cosponsors Resolution for Sales Tax Equity

Cassie Chambers Armstrong (’16), Metro Council Representative for the City of Louisville and Visiting Associate Professor at the University of Louisville Law School, was quoted on Louisville Public Media’s WFPL News discussing how single mothers and women with lower incomes are impacted by taxes on diapers and menstrual products, calling on Kentucky to follow other states in exempting these products from state sales tax (“Diaper and Menstrual Product Taxes Worsen Inequity. Some Council Members Want to Pressure the State to End Them,” Jul. 27). “Those are going to be the people that are buying these products every single month, more frequently sometimes. That little bit of extra money they are going to keep matters more in their paycheck-to-paycheck budgets than it is for some other folks.”
