Moriah Wilkins Advocates for Tenants as Virginia’s Eviction Protections Expire

Moriah Wilkins (’21), current Fellow with Legal Aid Justice Center, was quoted in C-VILLE Weekly revealing how Virginia’s non-renewal of leases creates “covert evictions” and recommending steps people facing eviction should take as protections expire (“Kicked Out – Local Resident Fights Eviction Case as State Protections End,” July 13). “There are not really any protections. We weren’t able to secure those protections in the General Assembly like we hoped because of the political climate. . . . Giving us a call [and] providing us with the facts or any documents you have can make a difference, and might give you a shot of staying in your home.”
