Mike Wishnie and Yale Law Students Advocate for Camp Lejeune Veterans

Mike Wishnie (’95), Clinical Professor of Law and Counselor to the Dean at Yale Law School, was quoted by CBS News regarding the 2016 lawsuit the students in the Veterans Legal Services clinic filed on behalf of Marine Corps veterans concerning the qualifications of doctors who reviewed disability claims arising from contaminated water at Camp Lejeune (“‘Deny Until They Die’: Some Veterans Say VA Wrongly Rejects Claims for Illnesses They Blame on Camp Lejeune’s Contaminated Water,” Feb. 16). “Not all of them appeared to have the qualifications for the job they're doing.” As claim approval rates dropped even further (from 25% to 5%) after the VA tasked “subject matter experts” with reviewing veteran claims, Mike noted that the system is “completely failing veterans.”
