Katherine Wutchiett (’16), Staff Attorney at Legal Aid at Work, was quoted in an LAist article featuring the free, confidential helpline she runs with her team, advising how to take time off work without sacrificing income and fielding urgent labor rights questions amid the omicron surge (“My Kids Are Sick. I Need the Day Off. What Are My Rights?” Jan. 26). Katherine discussed how COVID-19 qualifies as a serious health condition and encourages clients to namedrop the law, check with their unions for other contract benefits, and remember: “It’s against the law for people to treat people worse because they try to assert any of these rights.”
