Deborah Golden Discusses Deplorable D.C. Jail Conditions

Deborah Golden (’98), civil rights attorney, was quoted in DCist regarding the unprecedented transfer of 400 people to federal prison after D.C. Jail inspection finding systemic failures, unsanitary conditions and inappropriate behavior by guards (“After Inspection Finds ‘Systemic Failures’ At D.C. Jail, 400 Residents Will Be Moved,” Nov. 3). “I’m kind of shocked that they are immediately pulling out 400 people. . . . I have never seen this in 21 years, the marshals basically pull everyone out of the jail — and G-d knows it’s been a problematic hell hole for years.”
