Nicole Lee Ndumele Urges Congress to Pass Comprehensive Legislation to Advance Racial Equity

Nicole Lee Ndumele (’06), Vice President for Racial Equity and Justice at the Center for American Progress, contributed an opinion to The Hill calling on Congress to enact the American Jobs Plan, the American Families Plan, the George Floyd Justice in Policing Act, and the For the People Act to promote racial equity (“Congress Needs to Do More for Black Americans Than Make Juneteenth a Holiday,” June 19). “[A]s we celebrate Juneteenth, we should call on Congress to do more than simply pass legislation celebrating the ending of slavery for Black Americans. We should demand that Congress take tangible actions to pass concrete and meaningful reforms that advance racial equity.”
