Natasha Távora Baker Discusses DOJ Report Citing Unjust Treatment of People in Alameda County Prisons

Natasha Távora Baker (’17), Staff Attorney at Equal Justice Under Law, was quoted in the East Bay Times following a Department of Justice report citing the Alameda County Sheriff’s Office violated both the U.S. Constitution and the Americans with Disabilities Act by failing to provide sufficient mental health care to people in prisons (“DOJ Report Blasts Alameda County for Unconstitutional Mental Health Care,” published Apr. 23, updated Apr. 25). Natasha noted that the DOJ investigation “is not just about the money, it’s about how people in the jail are being treated.”
