Judith Browne Dianis Urges States to Follow Virginia’s Lead and Pass Voting Rights Legislation

Judith Browne Dianis (’92), Executive Director of Advancement Project, was quoted in an NPR piece discussing the states’ role in combatting voter suppression and her organization’s involvement in supporting Virginia’s Voting Rights Act. The VRA was signed by Governor Northam on March 31, making Virginia the first southern state to enact legislation addressing aspects of the 1965 Voting Rights Act struck down by the Supreme Court in 2013 (“Virginia Is Poised To Approve Its Own Voting Rights Act,” Feb. 26). “We need every state to pass its own voting rights law.”
