Cassie Chambers Armstrong Proposes Free Legal Services for Low-Income Families Facing Eviction in Louisville

Cassie Chambers Armstrong (’16), Councilmember for Louisville, KY, was quoted in the Louisville Courier Journal regarding her proposal for a Right to Counsel program aiming to change the “dynamic and outcome” for Louisville tenants in court (“Why Louisville Might Offer Free Legal Services to Low-Income Families Facing Eviction,” Mar. 22). “In eviction proceedings, it is especially important that an individual have an attorney because the stakes are so high. . . . Experience has shown us that (having an attorney) is one of the single-most effective interventions that we can use to prevent housing instability and homelessness for our kids.”
