Sandra Park Warns of “Unimaginable” Impact on Communities and Increased Threat to Black Women in the Absence of Broader Policies to Stop Evictions

Sandra Park (’03), Senior Staff Attorney at the ACLU Women’s Rights Project, was quoted by The 19th regarding an ACLU study showing that prior to 2020, Black women faced evictions at twice the rate of white people in at least 17 states, and the need to affirm policies preventing mass evictions now more than ever (“Americans Were Told to Stay Home. Black Women Are Most at Risk of Losing Theirs.” Dec. 21). “Unfortunately, the fallout will be borne most by women of color who have also had to bear so much of the fallout of the pandemic and economic crisis overall.”
