Heather Way Analyzes the Tech Effect on Affordable Housing in Austin

Heather Way (’97), Professor and Director of the Entrepreneurship and Community Development Clinic at the University of Texas School of Law, was quoted in a Wall Street Journal article discussing the impact of new arrivals on housing, transportation, and resources, as Austin becomes one of the fastest-growing cities in the U.S. and longtime residents struggle to stay in their homes (“‘Startup City’: Accelerated Growth Strains Austin,” Dec. 27). “Elsewhere in Texas, ‘you also see neighborhoods that are gentrifying and families that are experiencing displacement amidst that, but what’s unique about Austin is the pace at which it’s occurring,’ said Heather.”
