Hugh Baran Opposes State and Federal Liability Shield Proposals

Fellow Hugh Baran (’19), Staff Attorney at the National Employment Law Project, was quoted in a Law360 article regarding the relatively low numbers of COVID-related consumer and worker claims (“Liability Debate Belies Low COVID-19 Litigation Numbers,” Sep. 18). “It’s a solution in search of a problem. There isn’t a flood of litigation, there’s just a trickle.” Hugh noted that between the workers’ compensation bar and arbitration agreement requirements, workers already face high barriers to court. “We don’t see any signs of dams breaking anytime soon.”
