David Hausman Authors Study Finding Sanctuary Policies Do Not Compromise Public Safety

David Hausman (’16), Postdoctoral Fellow with Immigration Policy Lab, was quoted on the Immigration Policy Lab website regarding his new study published in Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences which addresses a central question in the sanctuary debate – whether crime increases when local law enforcement limits its cooperation with ICE – and finds even as sanctuary policies reduce deportations, they do not harm public safety (“Sanctuary Policies Protect Immigrants but Don’t Threaten Public Safety”). “I hope that this study brings some facts to a debate that has too often relied on assertions.”
