Provide Service Dogs to Veterans with PTSD: Rose Goldberg Discusses VA’s Decade-Long Failure to Act Following Congressional Mandate

Rose Carmen Goldberg (‘16), California Deputy Attorney General and Lecturer at UC Berkeley School of Law, contributed a guest commentary to the Orlando Sentinel advocating for the Senate to adopt the House-passed PAWS for Veterans Therapy Act which would create a five-year pilot program requiring the VA to fund service dogs for veterans with PTSD (“Veterans with PTSD Deserve Service Dogs,” July 6). “Let’s take stock of the intimate comfort and crucial mental health support dogs have given us as we have sheltered-in-place, disconnected from loved ones and surrounded by widespread loss of life. And let’s make sure veterans with PTSD have access to the dogs they need, too. … It’s time for Congress to step in by passing the PAWS Act.”
