Clark Peters ('92), Associate Professor at the University of Missouri School of Social Work, was quoted in The Columbia Missourian calling for public support for children in the foster care system ("Social Distancing Is Challenging For Foster Families," May 11). "Because the families couldn't care for them … , the state legally becomes a parent. Which means anybody who … pays taxes in Missouri is now the parent of this child, and we have to make sure that we are good parents."
