Ajmel Quereshi Files Complaint Countering Summer School Fees in Prince George's County, MD

Ajmel Quereshi ('08), Senior Counsel at the NAACP LDF and Co-Director of the Howard University School of Law Civil and Human Rights Clinic, was quoted in The Washington Informer regarding the ACLU's Complaint against Prince George's County School Board and the disproportionate and prolonged impact of summer school fees on low-income students ("Prince George's Officials Review Education Budget Amid Complaint About Summer School Fees," Apr. 28). "I think the [coronavirus] crisis exemplifies why this policy is dangerous. Every year may not involve a [coronavirus], but every year students are affected by factors and decisions beyond their control that affect their ability to maintain an education. Whether or not they have a chance to make up for that shouldn't be left to their income or their parent's income."
