Cara Hendrickson Recounts Leading the Illinois AG's Lawsuit and Negotiating the Consent Decree Aimed at Police Reform in Chicago

Cara Hendrickson ('03), the Executive Director of Business and Professional People for the Public Interest and former Chief of the Public Interest Division in the Illinois Attorney General's Office, co-authored an article for the Northwestern Journal of Law & Social Policy tracking the state's path to police reform ("Stepping into the Shoes of the Department of Justice: The Unusual, Necessary, and Hopeful Path the Illinois Attorney General Took to Require Police Reform in Chicago," Winter 2020). "We have created a template for other states and cities to replicate, and we are optimistic that the tireless commitment by our entire team to the process of police reform will result in transformation for all residents of the City of Chicago."
