Terri Gerstein Discusses Increased Need for Paid Sick Leave

Former Fellow Terri Gerstein (’95), the director of the State and Local Enforcement Project at the Harvard Labor and Worklife Program, wrote an op-ed in The Hill discussing sunset provisions that could provide sick leave protection where other benefits are unavailable (“America Needs Paid Sick Leave Laws To Stop Coronavirus From Spreading,” March 4). Terri was also quoted on the subject in The Nation (“Our Capitalist, Corporatist Country Is Drastically Unprepared for the Coronavirus,” March 4), saying, “Nearly a dozen states and many municipalities require employers to provide paid sick leave — which proves that it’s workable — but a majority of jurisdictions don’t have such laws, so that’s an opportunity for immediate action.”
