Former Fellow Udi Ofer (’01), the director of the ACLU’s Justice Division, wrote an op-ed for The Hill explaining restorative justice practices, which emphasize educating hate-crime perpetrators through face-to-face interactions with victims (“Trying To Incarcerate Anti-Semitism Away Only Makes It Worse,” Jan. 21). “An approach to anti-Semitism that is rooted in incarceration will fail to address the underlying bias that led to the attack and will actually further perpetuate racial inequalities,” Udi said.
