Eunice Cho Criticizes Weakened ICE Detention Guidelines

Former Fellow Eunice Cho (’10), a senior staff attorney at the ACLU, reported on new immigration detention standards released by Immigration and Customs Enforcement for the “News and Commentary” section of the organization’s website (“The Trump Administration Weakens Standards for ICE Detention Facilities,” Jan. 14). The reduced oversight requirements included in the standards eliminate safeguards for basic medical care and decrease reporting procedures in the event of a death at a facility, setting up potentially “disastrous ... consequences for the health and safety of” detainees, Eunice said.
