Corene Kendrick Fights To Secure Health Care in State Prisons

Former Fellow Corene Kendrick (’03), a staff attorney at The Prison Law Office, was interviewed on radio station KJZZ regarding her court of appeals win in which a ruling against the Arizona Department of Corrections enforced a hefty fine for providing poor health care in state prisons (“9th Circuit Affirms District Court's Power To Enforce Arizona Prison Health Care Settlement,” Jan. 29). Calling for the case to be sent back to trial after years of court battles with the state over how to carry out the settlement process, Corene said the judge should “issue any sort of [additional] orders that she thinks are necessary to ensure that people in the prisons are receiving minimally adequate health care.”
