Former Fellow Carolyn Shapiro (’97), a co-director of the Institute on the Supreme Court of the United States at IIT Chicago-Kent College of Law, discussed the recent presidential impeachment proceedings in an interview on radio station WTTW (“Trump’s Legal Team Concludes Oral Arguments in Impeachment Trial,” Jan. 28). “Rules of evidence don’t apply in this Senate trial,” Caroline explained, stating that any argument about inadmissibility “is using the technical words wrongly and out of context. It’s not an argument; it’s made up.”
