Karen Tumlin Addresses Asylum Seekers’ Right to Fair Hearing

Former Fellow Karen Tumlin (’05), the founder and director of the Justice Action Center, was quoted for a story on NBC News’ website about the amicus brief she is filing with the U.S. Supreme Court (“Lawyers Say Border Agents Keep Writing False Addresses on Migrant Papers, Undermining Asylum Cases,” Dec. 19). “The risk is not only that the U.S. violates its own procedures under due process, but also ... sending back asylum seekers to places they could be tortured or killed,” Karen said.
