Cathy Ruckelshaus Sees Limitation on Franchise Workers’ Rights

Former Fellow Cathy Ruckelshaus (’89), the general counsel of the National Employment Law Project, commented on a final U.S. Department of Labor rule in an article in The New York Times (“Labor Dept. Rule To Curb Lawsuits by Franchise Workers,” Jan. 12). Cathy said that the new regulation, which will protect large companies from responsibility for wrongdoing by contractors or franchisees, could have significant practical impact because “many workers and employers and courts follow D.O.L. guidance.”
