Former Fellow Jose Javier Rodriguez (’06), a state senator from Miami, was quoted in a Miami Herald story about Florida House Democrats forcing a vote on whether lawmakers should return to Tallahassee for a special session on gun reform (“Florida Democrats Call for Special Session on Gun Reform,” Aug. 20). “For a long time Republican leadership has been so far out of step with the public on commonsense reform,” Jose said. “We’ve been doing everything we can to break the stranglehold the NRA has on policy in Tallahassee.”
