Former Fellow Michael Tan (’00) was quoted in two articles about a federal judge’s decision blocking the Trump administration from detaining asylum seekers indefinitely, in The New York Times ("Federal Judge Blocks Barr’s Attempt to Deny Asylum Seekers Bail," July 2) and The Huffington Post ("Trump Administration Can’t Detain Asylum Seekers Indefinitely, Federal Judge Rules," July 3). The Trump administration, Michael told the Times, was "trying to create a perception that we need to lock everybody up or chaos ensues."
