Former Fellow Chaumtoli Huq (’99) authored two articles about the rights of low-waged immigrant workers, for Cambridge University’s "Core" blog ("The UN Guiding Principles Should Apply to Low-Waged Workers in the US: Case of App-Based Drivers," June 27) and the Religious News Service ("Immigrant-Run Manufacturing Co-Op Aims to Change Culture of Fast Fashion, Starting With Muslims," May 29). "Taxi drivers and Uber app drivers are excluded from labor laws because they are classified as independent contractors, and thus struggle to make wages and organize," Chaumtoli wrote on Core.
