Scott Colom Calls for Creation of Conviction Integrity Unit

Former Fellow Scott Colom (’09), the district attorney for Mississippi’s 16th Circuit, wrote an op-ed for the Clarion Ledger calling on the state’s next attorney general to establish a conviction integrity unit (“Next Mississippi Attorney General Needs Conviction Integrity Unit,” June 9). “This year, Mississippi voters will elect a new Attorney General for the first time since 2004,” Scott wrote. “And, as crazy as it may be to hear a District Attorney say, one of my suggestions for the new AG is for him or her to start a Conviction Integrity Unit to review my convictions.”
