Gregory Chen Assails Trump’s Asylum Policy

Former Fellow Gregory Chen (’98) wrote an op-ed for The Hill criticizing President Trump’s recently released immigration plan’s approach to improving the asylum process (“More Efficient Solutions, Not More Money, for Asylum Seekers at Border,” May 23). “The administration’s strategy has sacrificed the quality of decisions without creating a more orderly process,” Gregory wrote. “To improve the efficiency of asylum adjudications, the administration should build up the corps of asylum officers and immigration judges who are trained to decide these complex cases and identify which migrants qualify for humanitarian protection.”
