Elizabeth Kristen Wins Honorable Discharge for 92-Year-Old Vet

Former Fellow Elizabeth Kristen (’02) secured an honorable discharge for a 92-year-old veteran who was dismissed from the U.S. Air Force in 1955 for being gay. The case was discussed in a Philadelphia Inquirer article that also reported on Elizabeth’s ongoing pursuit of an honorable discharge for a 95-year-old veteran who was among thousands of black soldiers to receive a “blue discharge” at the end of World War II (“WWII Vet Wants Army to Upgrade Discriminatory Discharge to ‘Honorable,’ Nearly 75 Years After Expelling Him,” May 3).
