Tarra Simmons Discusses Becoming a Lawyer With a Criminal Record

Fellow Tarra Simmons (’17) authored an article for The Yale Law Journal about her experience as a “formerly justice-involved individual who overcame numerous barriers, including addiction and incarceration, to become an attorney” (“Transcending the Stigma of a Criminal Record: A Proposal to Reform State Bar Character and Fitness Evaluations,” Feb. 25). “The journey has been riddled with almost-overwhelming barriers as I have fought to overcome the stigma of my criminal record,” Tarra wrote.
