Jason Cade Advocates for Pardons for Immigrants

Former Fellow Jason Cade (‘06) drafted an article for the Collateral Consequences Resource Center’s website arguing “for a more generous use of the [state] pardon power” in the immigration context (“Pardons for Immigrants: Legal, Legitimate and Long Overdue,” Jan. 7). “Especially today, when federal enforcement policy has taken a sharp turn towards a less nuanced and more draconian direction, governors should take seriously the responsibility given to them by the immigration code to be the ultimate arbiters of whether a state conviction should result in deportation,” Jason wrote.
