Claudia Flores Discusses Child’s Death in Border Patrol Custody

Former Fellow Claudia Flores (’03) was interviewed by WNYC regarding the recent death of a 7-year-old girl after she was taken into custody by U.S. Customs and Border Patrol agents (“Death of Guatemalan Child Points to Deep Culture of Abuse and Neglect at US Customs and Border Patrol,” Dec. 17). “Clearly what is occurring within CBP right now isn’t working,” Claudia said. “There are numerous complaints ... of inadequate care. Border Patrol in particular seems to be a fairly mismanaged organization.”
