Michael Wishnie and Tarra Simmons Discussed in New York Times

Former Fellow Michael Wishnie (’95) and Fellow Tarra Simmons (’17) were mentioned in a New York Times article by recent Yale Law School graduate Reginald Dwayne Betts about the challenges he faced as a felon seeking to be admitted to the Connecticut bar. Michael served as Reginald’s co-counsel in the application process, helping to put together more than 200 letters from friends, colleagues and professors attesting to his character. Tarra, who served three years for drug charges and wasn’t permitted to take the Washington state bar exam until securing a Washington Supreme Court order, served as an example of what was possible, Reginald wrote.
