Fellow Blair Bowie (’17), with assistance and supervision from former Fellow and Flom Incubator Grant recipient Danielle Lang (’13), has helped launch and develop the Campaign Legal Center’s Restore Your Vote initiative, which combats overbroad and racially motivated felony disenfranchisement laws. In addition to litigating an ongoing lawsuit challenging an Alabama Jim Crow holdover law that disenfranchises 286,000 people, the project has provided direct rights restoration services to 3,300 individuals, trained more than 2,500 community leaders in their states’ rights-restoration processes and provided an online toolkit to 35,000 people, via the initiative’s website, RestoreYourVote.org.
