Rebecca Vallas Condemns Trump Administration’s Poverty Report

Former Fellow Rebecca Vallas (’09) was quoted in a New York Times story about a recent report from President Trump’s Council of Economic Advisers that declared the war on poverty “largely over and a success” and called for the imposition of new work requirements for certain federal benefits (“Declaring War on Poverty ‘Largely Over,’ White House Urges Work Requirements for Aid,” July 12). “It’s all part of a carefully calculated strategy to reinforce myths about the people these programs help,” Rebecca said.
