Cara McLellan Looks at Successful Integration of Hartford Schools

Fellow Cara McClellan (’17) co-authored a piece for The Hill on the successful effort to integrate schools in Hartford, Connecticut (“Connecticut’s Effort to Integrate Hartford Schools Is Working,” July 17). “[T]he Hartford region has achieved racial integration that is largely unknown in other urban school districts,” Cara wrote. Cara also was quoted in a CBS Baltimore story about the higher rates of punishment and lower rates of access to “gifted and talented” classes for black girls in Baltimore schools (“Black Girls Punished More Often in Baltimore Schools, NAACP Study Says,” June 28).
