Former Fellow Julie Su (’94), the California labor commissioner, was quoted in a New York Times story regarding her agency’s decision holding the Cheesecake Factory and a janitorial contractor liable in a wage theft case (“Cheesecake Factory Is Found Partly Liable in $4.6 Million Janitor Wage Theft Case,” June 12). “There is this perception ... that [janitorial workers] don’t know their rights, they don’t have access to learn their rights and will be afraid to speak up,” Julie said.
