Former Fellow Caroline Bettinger-López (’04) co-authored an article for Foreign Affairs on Attorney General Jeff Sessions’ decision to bar domestic violence victims from seeking asylum (“Sessions’ Draconian Asylum Decision: The U.S. Turns Its Back on Domestic Violence Victims,” June 15). The decision “will have particularly dire consequences for the thousands of Central Americans fleeing domestic and gender-based violence in their home countries and seeking asylum in the United States — and that is precisely his intent,” Caroline wrote.
