Fellow Blair Bowie (’17) and her efforts to register Alabama veterans to vote were profiled on Newsy (“This Group Helps Felons in Alabama Reclaim Their Voting Rights,” June 25). “The [Alabama state] law said anyone who has committed a crime of ‘moral turpitude’ loses their right to vote, but they didn’t define what ‘moral turpitude’ meant,” Blair said. “So that decision was in the hands of individual county registrars for over 100 years.”
