Susan Shin Speaks Out on Bank Overdraft Practices

Former Skadden fellow Susan Shin ('06) was quoted in a New York Times "DealBook" article on how the overdraft practices of banks remain largely unregulated, despite the harm it is causing to countless consumers ("Overdraft Practices Continue to Gut Bank Accounts and Haunt Customers," Feb. 28). Susan, legal director of the New Economy Project, describes the banks' practice of overdraft as "insidious," along with certain other practices, such as lines of credit, that can end up ensnaring customers in a cycle of debt.
