Skadden fellow Danielle Lang of Bet Tzedek Legal Services was interviewed by KCRW about her client Maria Vazquez, who was awarded over $80,000 in unpaid wages and penalties but, almost one year later, hasn't managed to collect from her employer ("The Fight for Lost Pay After Years of Wage Theft," Sept. 8). The article cited a study saying that only 17 percent of workers who win their Labor Commission cases ever recover any wages. To address wage violations, Los Angeles has created a Wage Enforcement Division, which Danielle called a step in the right direction. Danielle also was quoted in a similar Los Angeles Times article ("Few Wage Theft Victims Ever Get Their Back Pay," Sept. 4).
