Jeree Thomas Comments on Need for Juvenile Justice Reform

Former Skadden fellow Jeree Thomas ('11) of the Legal Aid Justice Center's JustChildren Program was quoted in a story by Richmond, Virginia's WWBT NBC 12 (June 10) regarding a campaign designed to find alternative solutions to the treatment of juvenile criminals. Jeree said the $150,000 cost to house a juvenile in a detention center for one year is "an issue that impacts all of us. We are all paying for it … both in social costs and in economic costs." She said the program will ideally engage members of the Richmond community to help end the current school-to-prison pipeline.
