Allison Newcombe Praises Creation of New Children's Court

Skadden Fellow Allison Newcombe was quoted in a Los Angeles Times article discussing the creation of a specialized court to handle the growing number of youths in foster care who have been lured or bullied into prostitution ("L.A. County Plans Court to Help Child Prostitutes," Feb. 26). Allison said a foster care court "would allow us to take a truly victim-centered approach to this problem." The article described Allison's work at the Alliance for Children's Rights, including on behalf of a 14-year-old girl who has been the victim of sex trafficking. Allison also was quoted in a follow-up article examining whether such youths should ever be kept in locked facilities for their protection ("L.A. County Supervisors Debate Whether to Lock Up At-Risk Foster Youth," March 21).
